He won the 262 km road race championships, held in Mendrisio, Switzerland, on the 27th of September in a solo attempt made in the final 3 km of the race.

Ryan onboard with Merida Flight Centre team
After a month of hard training since returning from Canada I have gained sponsorship from a major Australian mountain biking team, Merida Flight Centre, and can't wait to start riding for them. Thanks to Ultimate Ride for all their support.

Chris Jongewaard off to jail for minimum 9 months
In 2007, he hit a fellow training parter, Matthew Rex, when driving after a party, it was Rex's birthday party and they had all been drinking and illegal drugs may have been in their systems too. He has been found guilty for aggravated driving without due care and leaving the scene of an accident in relation to the crash. See here for more
Nino Schurter new World Cross Country Champion
Narrowly defeating previous world champion, Frenchman Julien Absalon, in a sprint finish the Swiss rider was the first of 2 from the country on the podiun in the elite mens race. The first Aussie was Chris Jongewaard, in 15th, proving that Australia needs to improve its national mountain bike program to accomodate for the high quality racing in Europe.
